How Pure Works

Navigating the Dynamic Marketplace with Secure Transactions

Written by Trey Benedict

Introduction

Collect Pure is a US-only online marketplace for buying and selling precious metals and rare coins (gold, silver, platinum, and palladium). It works orderbook-style, like an exchange: each product has a list of live bids (offers to buy) and asks (offers to sell), and a trade happens when a buyer and seller meet on price. Every item sold is shipped to a secure depository, authenticated, and then shipped insured to the buyer.

What is Collect Pure?

Pure is a two-sided marketplace where individuals, investors, dealers, and collectors buy and sell rare coins and precious metals. The same access and pricing information is available to everyone on the platform, so an individual places orders the same way a dealer does.

How does the Pure orderbook work?

Instead of a single fixed price set by a seller, each product shows live bids and asks:

  • A bid is an offer to buy at a stated price.

  • An ask is an offer to sell at a stated price.

  • A trade executes when a bid and an ask meet. This lets the current market price for an item be visible to both sides before anyone commits.

Who is on the other side of my order?

A Pure order book aggregates many participants on the same product: individual buyers and sellers, collectors, wholesalers, and dealers. They all place bids and asks against the same listing and compete on price, rather than you transacting against one party's single set price. Competition among many participants on an order book tends to compress the premium over the metal's spot price. This describes how the marketplace works and is not advice about when to buy or sell.

Who can use Pure?

Pure is open to individuals, investors, dealers, and collectors in the United States. Pure operates in the US only. Newcomers and experienced traders use the same orderbook and see the same pricing information.

How do I pay on Pure?

Pure accepts bank wire and ACH for all orders, and cards on Pure Priority orders (card payments carry a 2.9% surcharge). For full payment details, see Buying on Pure.

What protects my transaction?

Every item sold on Pure is routed through a secure depository and authenticated before it is delivered, then shipped insured to the buyer. Every transaction is backed by the Pure Guarantee. See Pure's Verification Process.
