Pure is a US-only marketplace for precious metals and rare coins, and on a standard order the item you ship goes to Pure first, never straight to the buyer. Your package travels 1 to 3 business days on the prepaid, insured label, and Pure checks it in, opens it on camera, and verifies it in about 24 hours. If the item meets Pure's verification standards, the sale completes and your payout is released about 3 business days after check-in. The coin then ships to the buyer, insured and tracked.
What are the steps after you ship your coin to Pure?
Your coin moves through transit, check-in, verification, and the outbound leg to the buyer.
You ship on the prepaid, insured label Pure provides, with the packing slip inside.
The package travels to Pure, 1 to 3 business days.
Pure checks the package in against your order. Your payout timing is measured from check-in.
A Pure team member opens the package on camera and matches the item to the listing it sold under.
Pure verifies the item, about 24 hours. A person checks every item that comes in to Pure.
An item that meets the standards is Pure Qualified and the sale completes.
Your payout is released automatically, about 3 business days after check-in.
The coin ships to the buyer by FedEx. Shipments are insured both ways, up to $125,000.
How long does each step take?
Each step of a standard order carries its own documented timing, and those timings do not add up to a single door-to-door number.
Step | Who | How long | What you see |
You ship on the prepaid label | You | Timing varies | Label tracking |
Transit to Pure | The carrier | 1 to 3 business days | Carrier tracking |
Check-in against your order | Pure | Timing varies | Nothing to do |
Unboxing and match to the listing | Pure | Timing varies | Nothing to do |
Verification | Pure | About 24 hours | Nothing to do |
Outcome, pass or fail | Pure | Part of the 24 hours | Pure notifies both sides on a fail |
Payout released | Pure | About 3 business days after check-in | ACH deposit or a check |
Outbound shipment | Pure and the carrier | Timing varies | The buyer gets tracking |
Four rows say timing varies because drop-off, carrier routing, and the arrival queue are not fixed numbers. Business days skip weekends and bank holidays.
When does Pure pay you?
Pure releases your payout automatically, about 3 business days after your item checks in and the sale completes, by ACH or check. Nothing needs to be requested, and sellers at $300,000 and above in quarterly volume can also be paid by wire.
What happens if your coin does not pass verification?
A coin that does not meet Pure's verification standards is not sent on to the buyer: Pure notifies both the buyer and the seller, and the buyer is refunded. The live article linked below covers the buyer's side. On the seller side, Pure's Terms of Service return a rejected item to you at your expense.
Does every order on Pure work this way?
The steps above describe a standard order. Pure Priority items are verified and held before they are listed, so there is no seller ship-in leg and no verification wait after purchase, and those orders ship Express 2 to 3 days after payment is confirmed. Pure Priority is also the only part of the marketplace where a card works, with a 2.9% surcharge, while wire and ACH work on any order. Pure also directs some items to ship straight from a pre-verified seller. If such an item is not what was described, Pure provides a replacement, a refund, or another agreed remedy at no additional cost, because Pure buys the item from the seller and sells it to the buyer.
